Are you a talented individual who is ready to develop cutting-edge and innovative technology? Are you interested in making the future? Would you like to contribute to the global green transition and are you looking to join a team that makes a lasting impact developing the world’s largest combustion engines of the future? – Then we might have just the spot for you!

You will play an important role in:
As an R&D Engineer you will be a part of the “Alternative Fuel Control Systems” department in the “Control Systems” function within our Two-Stroke R&D organization. Our function is responsible for delivering the software, which controls the largest 2-stroke engines of the world. The “Control Systems” function holds more than 40 highly motivated engineers, divided into smaller groups. You will become a part of a team, whose main focus is the development of the control system for the 2-stroke engines of the future, running on alternative fuels which will enable CO2 neutral propulsion.

Based on a good understanding of the complete system, we design the control strategies for the engines in cooperation with the other development departments. The solutions are implemented in the distributed engine control system via the C++ programming language. We test our software on PC, our own hardware in the loop test facilities, our own test engines in Copenhagen or a production engine abroad.

Your primary tasks will be to utilize the potential of different engine systems in order to develop the best possible automation and control system solution, including:

  • System analysis and modeling of dynamic systems
  • Designing control methods for electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic subsystems
  • Implementing and testing new functionality in our C++-based control platform
  • Improving and maintaining existing functionality
  • Supporting customers and partners with troubleshooting and bug fixing
  • Specifying control system interfaces

Our engines are manufactured under license in Japan, China, and South Korea and used globally, from ferries to the largest container ships and supertankers. Some international travel may be required for on-site testing. In daily work, you’ll collaborate closely with global colleagues and customers, primarily through written communication and support tools.

We imagine that you:
We are looking for a new colleague who:

  • has a passion and drive for automation and control of dynamic systems
  • has experience with and interest in programming – C++ or another object oriented language is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • has experience from a similar position or is an exceptional recent graduate willing to take on a challenge and holds a degree in automation, process, mechanical or electrical engineering

Furthermore, you would fit well into the team and our way of working if you are independent and take plenty of initiative, with the ability and joy to follow a project from the start-up phase to the end, including delivery.

Welcome to Alternative Fuel Control Systems
We are working in teams inspired by the agile principles. It is a requirement that our systems and software applications are designed and implemented with great focus on reliability, safety, on-time delivery, lifespan and user friendliness.

We are a team with good unity, where the daily life is characterized by an informal atmosphere and a pleasant social work environment. You will work in close cooperation with skilled and motivated colleagues who are passionate about their job and are looking forward to learning from you – and of course also share their knowledge.
